I had a great day on Saturday. A whole crew of us went out to Evergreen Retreat Center by Plainfield to help them hang Sheetrock and do manyof the other things that needed to be done from painting to electrical work. I enjoyed the change from teaching. Jon and I were able work together hanging Sheetrock. It was great to be asigned to the same crew and be able to work together which we do not get to do too often anymore. It is fun to end the day with sore arms and an aching back again. It brought back so many memories of when I was working on a house framing crew. The Bible is true when it says that the sleep of a laboring man is sweet. Between all of us we were able to accomplish alot of work but there is still alot of work to do so if you are looking for something to do on a Saturday we are going to be doing it again soon.
One thing that was very interesting to me as we were working was the fact that everyone was contributing what he or she could to the project whether little or much. Some were insulating or just sweeping the floor. It was such a illustration of how the body of Christ works with each person contributing what they can. When each part works well it all works together very smoothly and much is accomplished. The little ones going for water and us older ones doing what we can. The rewards are eternal besides just the simple joy of working together.
