The Great Flood

It has been quite a full last couple of weeks. I worked 60 hours last week and about 50 this week. I am enjoying my new job except for all of the hours that I have to work. I was assigned 2 good students that are excited about learning which was an answer to prayer. The equipment we have to work with is nice so that is great. For you airplane nuts the techical info is this. We have five 172 S models. They are not G 1000 unfortunately but they all have approach certified GPS's. For multi engine training we have two Beech Duchesses. They are older but are also in good condition with good avionics and approach certified GPS's. The rest of the fleet consists of six simulators. I have been having alot of fun with them. We have multi engine sim that is one step below a full motion one like the airlines have so in other words, it is very realistic. It has a full cockpit and a wrap around screen. I guess it should be good because it cost about a half a million. We do alot of our multi engine training in that so that the guys burn up less time in the airplane because they already know how to fly it due to flying the sim. It is also fun to throw emergency situations at students that you could not simulate in the real airplane because it would be too dangerous and see how they respond.

Amidst all of this the weather has not been cooperating. We have gotten so much rain lately that it is amazing. Our hanger flooded two different times because it is built in a low spot with not much drainage. The ground was already saturated from an earlier rain so the water just kept rising. It is an awful feeling to stand there and watch the water come up the wheels of our airplanes while there is nothing that you can do about it. The water got so high that we were afraid that it would get into the fuselage and ruin the cables and wiring in the belly. I have pics of the whole thing on my pictures link at the right side of the page.

In all of this I would apprecate your conitnued prayers for strength in the long hours and opportunitys to share my faith with the guys that I work with.
